About
We believe that children should dream big and grow to do great things with their lives. No child should find their aspirations out of reach because they struggle to read with fluency and comprehension or to clearly articulate their thoughts and ideas in writing.
The ReadWrite Clinic specializes in Orton-Gillingham based instruction and intervention. Our mission and passion is to provide K-5th grade students, especially those who struggle, with the diagnostic and prescriptive support they require to become proficient readers and writers. Our Literacy Lab, Summer Bridge, and intervention sessions are designed to bolster the confidence of our students as they learn and master the language skills necessary to successfully navigate their path to literacy and ultimately toward academic, life, and career goals.
The ReadWrite Difference
When it comes to finding the right resources and help for struggling students, we know that parents have choices. What sets the ReadWrite Clinic apart is our philosophy and approach to literacy instruction and learning in addition to our desire to educate parents on how they can best advocate for and support their students.

Dyslexia affects 15-20% of the population. An estimated 30% of those with dyslexia also have ADHD.
At RWC, we recognize that students are unique individuals with different learning needs. Our aim is to accurately identify those needs in order to specifically target learning gaps while acknowledging, affirming, and strengthening the skills students already have. While this is important for all students, it is especially important for those with language processing and executive functioning
challenges such as Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). For students with language-based learning difficulties, the first step toward effective support is acknowledging and understanding the neurological challenges that serve as obstacles to academic progress within a general education setting. It cannot be overstated that in the absence of specialized, consistent, and evidence-based intervention, repeated failure to keep up with neurotypical peers in the area of literacy will have a long-term and damaging impact on their sense of efficacy and level of self-esteem.
At RWC, we work to help our students and parents understand that these challenges have little to do with intelligence. Most struggling readers and writers simply require a more suitable and robust instructional "treatment" in order to achieve more positive literacy and overall academic outcomes.
Our Approach
It is well known among reading experts and researchers that the most effective reading instruction is that which integrates the 5 essential components of reading mastery into an explicit, sequential, systematic, cumulative, and multisensory approach called "structured literacy". Also know as the Orton-Gillingham approach, structured Literacy is the heart of our educational practice at the ReadWrite Clinic.
According to educational consultant and literary specialist Dr. Nancy Young, 40-50% of all students require a structured literacy approach to reading and writing in order to achieve proficiency; among these, 10-15% are students with dyslexia for whom structured literacy is essential. Drawing from current scientific research on how the brain learns, our professional and compassionate

educators utilize this proven, evidenced-based teaching method to meet the needs of our students in grades K-3 within our Literacy Lab program and grades K-5 in our intervention sessions.
Additionally, our facility is designed to promote focused and interactive learning. We employ assistive technologies, furnishings, and supplemental educational materials with the needs of multimodal (visual, tactile, kinesthetic, and auditory) learners in mind.
Student-Teacher Ratio
Low student-teacher ratios are an essential requirement for Tier 3 intensive literacy instruction and intervention. Participation in each of our small group sessions is limited to 4 students, with a minimum enrollment of 2 students. We also offer individualized literacy intervention for those students who would most benefit from one-on-one instructional support.
Each of our Summer Bridge and comprehensive Literacy Lab classes are designed for a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 15 students enrolled. These programs consist of both whole group and small group instruction.
